Junior Programs
General Philosophy
Our junior tennis program is dedicated to developing a passion in young players to become better tennis players. Each class has two or three objectives on which students focus. Rewards and other incentives are included in our program to help motivate kids to achieve their objectives.
Should a child take group or private lessons?
Group lessons are valuable because kids can hit with peers of similar ability and form or strengthen friendships with other kids. Private lessons can supplement group lessons by giving personal attention to improving stroke and footwork mechanics. Players can join a group any time as long as they are at the same skill level as the group they want to join. Players who demonstrate more advanced skill levels can "move up” to that group.

Members receive a 10% discount. All programs require a minimum
of participants and also have a student-pro ratio of 6-1 or less.

High Performance (invitation by coach)
Beginning Fundamental
Quick Start (ages 5-8)
This program teaches tennis, fundamental athletic skills and hand-eye coordination
in a really fun environment. Minimum 4 children per class.
Monday or Wednesday 3:30 - 4:15 PM
$60.00 for 5 weeks (1 time per week/5 classes)
Starts September 8, 2010
JuniorTeam Tennis and Tournament (8-12)
This level is for kids that can play league tennis. As a minimum, a player can rally a "hard" ball 10 times from the baseline with a Pro and serve 5 points in a row without double-faulting. They are playing games that reinforce correct serving and groundstroke mechanics. Typically, these players play Junior Team Tennis on Friday nights and would like to play Futures tournaments.

Includes 4 hours of instruction, a free loaner racquet, and free
use of the ball machine* for the duration of the class. The last week's session is a one-hour supervised practice match for program participants.

A typical Cardio Tennis Program includes fast-paced drills where the Pro feeds balls to players based on their ability and fitness level. Pros find ways to keep players moving and chanllenged...all the while having fun and burning calories!

GVTL LEAGUES:
GVTL Leagues will start again in September. Sign-up will be in August
The Florida Tennis Center has the most GVTL (Greater Volusia Tennis League) teams (for Men, Women and Mixed) of any tennis facility in the area. Day or evening League play consists of teams with players of similar ability based on their NTRP rating. Contact our Head Tennis Pro at (386) 671-8904 to obtain a complimentary official rating and learn about GVTL team play opportunities.
Open Team Practices
Some of our GVTL teams have opened their practices to non-team members. Call the Head Pro at (386) 671-8904 to match you with a practice that fits your schedule and skill-level.
