Dave Brown, USPTA Master Professional
Director of Tennis, City of Daytona Beach

Dave is a USPTA Master Professional who arrived here in Daytona Beach in March of 2003 from Pembroke Pines in South Florida where he served as one of Florida's USTA community coordinators.

As a player, he was a high school and college standout, graduating from St. Mary's College in California. Upon graduating, Dave assisted coach Lynn Rolley at St. Mary's and one year later became a certified teaching professional. He has been in the tennis business ever since.

Currently, Dave serves the City of Daytona Beach as Manager and Director of Tennis at the 24-court Florida Tennis Center facility. He oversees an enthusiastic professional staff of eight tennis pros, pro shopkeepers and maintenance experts whose goals are to provide members and guests with the best tennis experience possible. Besides managing, Dave is an excellent and enthusiastic teacher who genuinely enjoys working with all levels of players in the game. He and his wife Ann, who works at USA Tennis Florida, have two sons, Jason and Aaron.

Tom Kelly, USPTA / PTR Head Professional

Tom began playing tennis when he was 11 years old in Greenbelt, Maryland and has worked for the City of Daytona Beach since 1993. As Director of the City Island Tennis Center, he developed many local junior and adult tennis players. Tom transferred to the Florida Tennis Center (FTC) in 2002 as the Head Tennis Professional.

Tom has served the local community in many areas. He initiated the Tennis Patrons of Greater Daytona Beach and worked with school officials to develop programs in local elementary schools. After serving as Director of the USTA…amp;trade;s District 16 and USPTA…amp;trade;s District 6, Tom received Florida…amp;trade;s Service Award. Tom is one of a handful of professionals in the nation certified as both a “Little Tennis” and a “Competitive Player” specialist. Tom and his wife Elena were blessed with a baby girl January 2000.

Linda Ehrlich, Pro Shop Manager

Linda has been at the Florida Tennis Center since its opening in 2002 and takes pride in the merchandise selection featured in our Pro Shop. Originally from Massachusetts and a copywriter by trade, Linda moved to Daytona Beach from Atlanta via the Northeast and Chicago.  As a tennis player and fan, she enjoys working with FTC members to improve their tennis experience...and helps to keep them well dressed on court!

Margrit Draugelat, Pro Shop Attendant

Born and educated in Switzerland, Margrit came to the U.S. in 1965. After 16 years in the Midwest working in the hotel and travel industry, she and husband Karl moved to Florida. While working at the Players Club in Palm Coast, she had a chance to meet some top players. After living in Miami and Orlando, she moved back to this area to become part of an outstanding tennis facility and its team.

Karen Parvin, Pro Shop Attendant
Karen and Ed Parvin moved to Florida from Johnson, Vermont in 2003 after retiring from Johnson State College, where they worked for 14 years. "We decided to move to a slightly warmer climate to enjoy our golden years," says Karen. Their large family visits often from the northeast so Karen can enjoy doting on her grandchildren!

Brad Lohman, Maintenance Supervisor
Brad grew up in Pennsylvania and later worked his way through the Tennessee University system. After college, his career included many years as a teacher, administrator, coach and counselor in the education/recreation field. Brad has been associated with tennis for 25 years in development, instruction, and now facility and court maintenance. His expertise as a clay court specialist is his claim to fame!

Richard Cio, Maintenance
"Cio" is the one who keeps our facility ship shape and in top working order, and he plays a pretty mean game of tennis himself!
